Mizoram  literally means Land of the highlanders. True to its name, it is perched on the tail-end of the Himalayan Range at the North Eastern corner of the Indian Union. It is flanked by Bangladesh in the West and Myanmar in the East and South with a total of 630 km long international boundary. Manipur and Assam states border it  in the North while Tripura is in the North-West. It has an area of 21, 081 sq. km.
         Mizoram has a moderate climate, pleasantly warm in summer and pleasantly cold in winter. Though rain can sometimes be incessant during the rainy season from May to September, while the winter is usually rain-free.
           Mizoram has a hilly terrain with rivers flowing either to the north or to the south, creating deep gorges. It is a store house of scenic beauty.
